RESIZING IMAGES FOR THE FORUM

Both the methods outlined below will reduce file size to make your images load faster & use less space on the forum. See example below:

METHOD 1: I want to place an image in a post or my signature, linked from another site.

This routine is for use with the  [img] [/img] tags ( The small tree box in the post). It will resize a picture to be of the correct dimensions so it does not expand the post. It only works with standard size images, created with a digital camera. Oddball dimensioned images will produce an error.

METHOD 2: I have Windows XP & just want to reduce the file size of my photo:

If you are uploading a picture in a post (thumbnail) you want the largest picture possible when it is clicked, while at the same time, low in file size.  With this add-on installed, you can right click the picture file name & then select "Resize Pictures". Select "Small" or "Medium". This routine tends to maintain the original image size, while reducing file size. This is a good program  for use with the built in Thumbnail feature as the clicked image is larger.

Examples: The photo, by the way is Lake Atitlan in the highlands of Guatemala, often thought to be the world's most beautiful lake. My wife & I did a water quality study of it for the Guatemalan Government in the Summer of 2001.
